The classic card game of cribbage has been a favorite pastime for centuries. The object of the game is to be the first player to score 121 points. The game is traditionally played between two players, but can also involve up to four players in teams if desired.
At the beginning of each round, each player is dealt six cards and must choose the two that they think are best. These two cards are placed in a central area called the crib, which only one player will use during that round. The remaining four cards are then played as pairs and singles in sets-of-five called "pegs" or "counts" along a peg board which marks out the points scored by each player during that hand. Players then take turns playing their cards and earning points for any achieved combinations such as pairs, runs (consecutive numbers of three or more) and various other scoring hands. After all of the cards have been played, those whose crib was chosen gets to add the two crib cards to their peg count in order to maximize their score. After any bonus points have been added for special hands such as for having Jacks (called His Nobs) or 31 counts (also known as Go), any ties are broken by random draws from an additional deck of cards until one true winner remains with 121 total points on their thread board first wins the round and gains an advantage in winning future rounds as well.
